AROUND THE WORLD 2011-12

I've just started to edit my 'around the world' trip photos. Following are some of the architectural highlights. The trip included Turkey, Israel, the West Bank, Jordan, Qatar, Vietnam, China & Japan. Whew.

Istanbul

Istiklal Caddesi - Istanbul's grand pedestrian shopping avenue.

Dolmabahce Palace at night... It's one of the few palaces in the world still used for state events.

Hagia Sophia interior.

Tel Aviv Art Museum

I photographed this stunning building by architect, Preston Scott Cohen. On top of being an architectural gem, the art installations are spectacular. Currently showing is Anslem Kiefer's 'Breaking of the Vessels.'

Peres Center for Peace

Middle East peace initiative designed by architect, Massimiliano Fuksas, in Jaffa.

Cinema Hotel - Tel Aviv

Original Bauhaus style at its best.

Jersusalem

The Old City at dusk.

The Dead Sea

Israel is spoiled by oceans with the Dead, the Med & the Red. This is my favorite...

Crossing the Border into Jordan

Here's a drive by shot, going from Aqaba to Petra in the deserted desert. My taxi driver, Moussa, kept me amused with stories in Arabic refusing to believe that I couldn't understand them.

Doha

The Corniche & Souq Waqif

Ho Chi Minh City

The Reunification Palace... very emotive place, it transports you back to 1975.

Moganshan, China

The latest and greatest resort opening of 2012 - Naked Stables Private Reserve. It's a gorgeous luxury 'camp' that features earth huts and villas designed by Ben Wood.

Prada & Christian Dior - Tokyo

Tokyo has amazing modern architecture to match its highly developed infrastructure. High end retail stores like the ones below are architectural works of art - clearly deemed as important as the items featured inside the store. Kenzo Tange's cathedral is one of the most beautiful modern structures in the city. Last but not least there's the Tsukiji fish market, home of legendary tuna auctions and precursor to the world's best sushi.

Prada & Christian Dior - Omotesando

Shanghai's 1933

Shanghai's new commercial hub for creative industries harnessing the cement loft feel.

Kenzo Tange 's Cathedral

This beautiful cathedral is hidden in a residential area on the north side of Tokyo.

Tokyo International Forum

The gorgeous mod building by Rafael Vinoly.

The National Art Center Tokyo

My favorite glass + steel building in Roppongi...

AO Building

AO Aoyama (Sakakura Associates) - Tokyo

Shibuya Crossing

Tsukiji Fish Market

Instagrams From The Road
